An AI prompt is a block of free-text instructions attached to one extension or one group, telling the AI how to handle calls for that specific target.
Overview
AI prompts let you tailor the AI's behavior per target instead of only PBX-wide. Each extension and each group can carry at most one prompt. This is the finer-grained companion to the PBX-level global prompt: the global prompt is the shared ground truth every AI tool reads, while an AI prompt overrides or extends it for a single extension or group.
AI prompts are only available when the PBX is on an AI plan (it has an AI profile). When no AI profile is set, the feature is hidden everywhere.
How to reach it
Open AI setup and use one of two cards:
- Extension prompts opens this list already filtered to extension targets.
- Group prompts opens this list already filtered to group targets.
You can also edit a target's prompt directly from its own edit form: an AI prompt tab appears on the extension and group pages (again, only when the PBX is on an AI plan). Both entry points write the same underlying prompt, so a change made in one place is reflected in the other.
Configuration that matters
The target type is not chosen on the form: it comes from the card you opened (Extension prompts or Group prompts) and is carried through to the create page. So a create form only ever offers targets of that one type.
Target
Pick the specific extension or group. Only targets that do not already have a prompt are offered, so you cannot create a second prompt for the same target. The target is fixed once the prompt is created and shown read-only on edit; to move a prompt, delete it and create a new one.
Prompt
The instructions themselves. This is the text the AI follows when handling calls for the chosen target. On edit this is the only editable field.
