Companies

A company in Tempus is the legal employer of a group of employees: it signs contracts, declares hours, runs payroll, and owns the working-time rules. Tempus is multi-company, so one tenant can manage several legal entities side by side.

Overview

Every other Tempus entity hangs off a company: contracts, employees, departments, locations, work shifts, and overtime periods. Most company settings propagate as defaults to the contracts and employees below it, so getting a company right early saves rework later.

What it does

Company values flow down as defaults to contracts, and from contracts to employees. The settings that matter most:

  • Country drives the public-holiday calendar and some regulatory caps.
  • Full-time hours is the denominator for the FTE percentage on contracts.
  • Legal paid leaves yearly days is the starting holiday allowance for new contracts.
  • The overtime toggles control period-based calculation and the employee overtime-preference prompt.

Public-holiday treatment is jurisdiction-specific. Add public holidays to balance credits public holidays to the leave balance instead of treating them as fixed off-days, and Add public holidays on same day to balance extends that to holidays falling on an already-off day. Check with HR for the right setting.
